THEO'S THANG:

What other folks say:

"Theo's Thang is very different...dramatic...sounds like a high energy guy who should do well" - Dale Russell, producer, songwriter, former guitarist for The Guess Who

"Power ballads, Funk Metal-ish rockers, and introspective, radio-groomed Alternative Rock. Theo's strutting guitar work predominates, but it's rounded out by polished songwriting and thoughtful, often bitter lyrics." - Listen.com

"… hats off to Theo's Thang for cooking up something almost worthy of BÖC's immortal "Secret Treaties." The nifty sound effects (particularly the twisting screw) give "Razor Knives" an extra sinister edge. Godspeed these guys on their career of evil." - Richard Skanse, Rolling Stone

In the tradition of such greats as the Alan Parsons Project and Steely Dan, Theo’s Thang is primarily a studio project, although Theo has been known to occasionally play out either solo or sitting in with other bands. The Thang has achieved some level of notoriety on the internet. Their song “Razor Knives” was selected as RollingStone.com’s Unsigned MP3 of the day. And the Thang has also had tracks featured on several occasions on MP3.com, the late AMP3.com, ArtistLaunch.com, and several other music sites.

At the core of Theo’s Thang is:

Theo Ezell - Vocals, Guitars, Bass, Songwriter.

Inspired by hearing Led Zeppelin II, Theo first started playing music at the tender age of 10. But he was 21 before he first picked up the guitar. It was also then that he seriously took up songwriting. A veteran of bands ranging stylistically from punk to metal to alternative pop, Theo has developed his own unique guitar style that is easily recognizable. Vocally he has been compared to artists as diverse as Lou Reed and Mark Knopfler. His songs range from gritty hard rock to ballad to heavy funk, each with it’s own story to tell.

Shannon Walton - Drums, Percussion
Shannon is equally at home on either side of the recording glass. As well as being a skilled engineer and talented producer, he is also the rhythmic heart of the Thang. Influenced by Mick Fleetwood and Don Henley, his drum grooves are so rock steady he was even accused of being a drum machine at one point. And his percussion playing adds just the right amount of spice to each song.
